The OCEANS project aims to innovate and extend good practice in the teaching of Ocean Literacy through the use of a synthesis of creative ‘material-dialogic’ pedagogies and digital technologies.
Our objectives are:
1) To use creative pedagogies and augmented/virtual reality to engage young people with Ocean Literacy
2) To explore the extent to which these pedagogies can support young people in accessing the Ocean through aquaria, both directly and from a distance
3) To explore the extent to which these pedagogies support young people’ understanding of Ocean Literacy.
In addition, we are interested in drawing on the project to research how pupils’ learning in this context draws on embodied, material interactions, and how this might be affected by digital tools and creative pedagogical approaches.
The project runs from November 2018 to July 2021.
