CESGA and UVigo host the last meeting of Fablabs E+ project
From May 20 to 22, 2025, the CESGA and the atlanTTIC research center at the University of Vigo hosted the final meeting of the consortium of the European project FabLabs – Digital Fabrication Laboratories in Education, an Erasmus+ initiative in which we have been participating since 2022. The project promotes the use of digital fabrication laboratories as an innovative resource in higher education.
During the meeting, together with faculty members and researchers from four other countries (Slovenia, Portugal, Italy, and Germany) representing universities and technology centers, we reviewed the materials developed within the project and discussed the best strategies for disseminating them and making them more useful in the future. The aim is to foster active learning, collaborative work, and the development of STEAM skills among VET teachers and students, FabLab users and mentors, and first-year students in technical disciplines at university.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the Multiplier Event, a public dissemination session where the project’s main results were presented. In particular, the online course developed by the consortium was introduced. It is freely and openly available on the project platform:

This course is designed as a practical guide for educators who want to explore the world of FabLabs and use these technologies in educational contexts. The materials include teaching resources, sample activities, digital tools, and methodological guidance focused on the following topics: Design Thinking, IoT Product Development, Blockchain and IoT, Artificial Intelligence, and Big Data.
In addition, during their stay in Galicia, the participants had the opportunity to visit the company Televés, in Santiago de Compostela, where they learned about various industrial applications of digital fabrication and how these technologies are transforming production processes in key sectors.
The FabLabs project is now entering its final phase, with the goal of continuing to support educators in adopting innovative methodologies that connect education with today’s technological challenges.
