Peneira (https://peneira.cesga.es) is a robust software platform developed by the Supercomputing Center of Galicia (CESGA) in its line of innovation in educational technology at the the e-learning Dept. Peneira offers an advanced technological framework for the development and implementation of citizen science and research projects in the educational field.

This multi-platform mobile application stands out for its versatility and intuitive interface, facilitating the systematic collection of field data by participants using mobile devices. The platform supports various multimedia formats, precise geolocation, the integration of advanced sensors, and the incorporation of relevant geographic and environmental information for the analysis and interpretation of results.

Peneira can be a highly valuable tool for teachers interested in integrating citizen science methodologies into their educational curricula, from primary education onwards. Its user-friendly interface and advanced functionalities allow for the design of meaningful learning activities and promote the active participation of students in real research processes using mobile phones or even tablets without a data connection.
For research groups, Peneira offers a flexible environment for the management of collaborative projects and the efficient collection of data (images, videos, numerical data, audio, links, or from external sensors) on a large scale, with the possibility of collecting precise information from external sensors via Bluetooth, as well as using detailed maps (MBtiles).

Currently, Peneira is available in English, Spanish, and Galician.
