ICT-Go-Girls! Final Conference

ICT-Go-Girls Final Conference was held on October 15th 2014 in Antwerp, Belgium!!

We will also announce the winner of the free kit for schools among online participants this week. 🙂

This free event included:

  • Face to face sessions, with key speakers who presented the situation of girls, entrepreneurship and ICT in Europe and worldwide, as well as related initiatives and ICT-Go-Girls! project in detail.
  • Hands-on workshop to introduce and practice strategies, activities and tools to promote ICT and entrepreneurship among girls in secondary schools.
  • A copy of our “Handbook for Schools” was given for free to all participants, containing strategies and lessons learnt from our project.
  • Free networking lunch, to share our thoughts with all participants after the morning session.

Target groups: Teachers, directors, career counselors, university colleges (IT programs), policy makers.

Approach: on-site and online conference and two practical workshop for teachers.

09.15 – Girls, Entrepreneurship and ICT. Personal perspective (Saskia Van Uffelen, CEO Ericsson Belux and Digital Champion Belgium).
09.45 – ICT-Go-Girls project and its products (Maria R Malmierca, CESGA, ICT-Go-Girls! Project coordinator).
10.15 – Why do women not opt for being leaders in ICT? (Lil Reif, Researcher. Danube University, Austria).
10.40  – ICT-Go-Girls experience taken to schools. A headteacher’s view. (Milagros Trigo, K-12 school headteacher, CPI O Cruce, Spain).
11:00 – coffee break
11.15 – Women’s WorldWide Web. Girls, leadership and ICT (Lindsey Nefesh Clarke, Founder and Managing Director of W4 -Women’s WorldWide Web-).
11.35 – 12.45 Parallel workshops. Hands-on sessions:
Room A workshop 1: ICT-Go-Girls activities to engage girls into ICT leadership in the classroom. Digital activities to engage girls into ICT in class.
Room B workshop 2: ICT-Go-Girls activities to engage girls into ICT leadership in the classroom. Working with fun hardware to engage girls into ICT in class.
12.45 – network lunch
14.30 – End of the Conference.
